Ormeau Lions Club -
Increasing Safety On Our Australian Roads
Driver Reviver and our local Ormeau
Volunteers
The Driver Reviver is such an important part of Australia's
history and every single family in Australia that has been on a
road trip will understand the value of this great rest spot.
Many lives have been saved as a result of the great volunteer
work enabling people to get home safe on those long trips.
At the Ormeau Lions club we provide a beautiful rest spot
and some great conversation to ensure every family that stops
by gets home safely. The slogan 'Stop, Revive, Survive' is entrenched
in all our minds and the importance of resting every 2 hours
cannot be overstated.
Here is a recent picture taken from our driver reviver
stand.

Here is what they had to say about the friendly
service...
Dear Ann & Ken
Please find below the two photos I took of you both
with my son and French niece on our road trip south
from the Sunshine Coast to Canberra.
Thank you so much for your welcome and friendliness
to us when we stopped. My son's first comment as we
pulled in was "Why are we stopping here when we can
go to a roadhouse?" My response to him was well and
truly affirmed by the wonderful way you treated
us.
I said to him that apart from it being time to stop
to have a stretch after the stress of the motorway
and not wanting to hold out for when the next
service station appeared, I wanted Raphi to have
the cultural experience of our friendly Aussie
Driver Reviver stops and to understand the
importance of them to travellers in keeping down
our road toll. (Raphaelle is with us for 9 months
as a student exchange scholar at our local Canberra
college).
You didn't let us down!! The cuppas were great; you
were so very friendly and I really enjoyed our chat
and especially the hints about developing a school
market garden re: the example. of Pimpama State
School.
Thank you for your time looking after us and
volunteering for such a worthwhile community cause.
You and Ormeau Lions need to be well and truly
congratulated for the terrific job you do! All the
best. |
